The first film in actor and director Kevin Costner’s epic Western series, Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1 has only been in theaters for a month, but Amazon already has preorders up for the eventual 4K Blu-ray release. You can preorder Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1 for $50 right now.
Horizon: An American Saga is a passion project Costner has worked on as far back as 1988. The plan is for it to eventually comprise four movies set before, during, and after the Civil War, and leaning into the American mythology of the Old West and westward expansion. Horizon Chapter 1 covers the four years of the Civil War, 1861 through 1865, but the whole series will eventually span 12 years.
As is usually the case, the 4K Blu-ray also offers some other ways of watching the movie. It includes a regular Blu-ray disc in addition to the 4K version, as well as a code for a digital 4K UHD version that you can stream from anywhere using a Fandango at Home account. The 4K Blu-ray will run you $50 and releases on September 10.
If you’d prefer a non-4K option, Amazon has a couple of other ways to preorder the movie, as well. The Blu-ray version of Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 is also available and includes a DVD version and digital version code for $28. There’s also the digital option, with Horizon Chapter 1 available on Amazon Prime Video right now–a rental will run you $20, while purchasing the digital UHD version of the movie costs $25.
It’s also worth noting that, because this is an Amazon Prime preorder, you won’t be charged until the product actually ships in September. Amazon also guarantees that you’ll pay the lowest preorder price, so if the cost of either the 4K Blu-ray or regular Blu-ray drops before its release, Amazon automatically adjusts what you pay to match.
