The first trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III has arrived. As expected, it teases the return of the iconic Call of Duty villain, Makarov. The trailer uses both live-action sequences and footage from the game, it seems, and don’t get too excited, because there isn’t much in the way of gameplay here. But still, it’s a first look at the game and a setup for the mood and story, and that’s pretty fun and exciting.

This is just the first phase of Activision’s announcement plans for Modern Warfare III, as the company has more in store for an in-game reveal event inside Warzone on August 17.

Modern Warfare III is expected to continue the story from Modern Warfare II, with Task Force 141 getting back in action to put an end to Makarov and his mission.

Modern Warfare III releases on November 10, with a multiplayer beta rumored to take place beforehand. Keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest on Modern Warfare III.

Microsoft is in the process of trying to buy Activision Blizzard and the Call of Duty series, but the deal isn’t done yet. And even if it does close, Call of Duty is staying on PlayStation for at least the next decade.
