Weeelcoooome to NVC, IGN’s Nintendo podcast! This week we recorded the episode hot off of the brand new Super Mario Maker 2 Nintendo Direct which was absolutely jam-packed with insane new options to create and share your own custom Super Mario stages on Switch. It sounds like absolute chaos in the best way possible, so we broke down our favorite parts of the Direct – and also the stuff that has us a little bit worried.

After that, we have a brief spoiler-free chat about why we love the new Detective Pikachu movie, why the accompanying merchandise is so cool, and what we’d love to see in a sequel. Brian is still upset that Garbador isn’t in the film and you should be too.

Then, we break down some news covering everything from Tetris 99 to Nintendo’s E3 plans. That’s right, E3 is just a few weeks away and we think it’s gonna be a huge one for Nintendo! Oh! And in the meantime, we’re playing tons of new games on Switch and breaking down our experiences with them. Stuff like Saints Row the Third, Picross S3, the Braveland Trilogy, and of course, more Smash Bros.

And finally, we’re taking YOUR questions during our Question Block segment which gives our resident host Casey Defreitas a chance to tell us one of the funniest stories ever told on NVC which I will not spoil for you, although I will slightly tease with this ridiculous photoshop from IGN reviews editor Tom Marks.

Now, you must look at this picture.

Thank you so much for watching and listening to our show each week! We’re immensely proud of it. It’s an honor and a joy to cover Nintendo stuff here at IGN so we’re happy to have you.

NVC is available on your preferred platform!
