At the Kinda Funny Games Showcase today, hosts Greg Miller and Tim Gettys announced new details about The Walking Dead: The Final Season. The finale to the long-running episodic series based on Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead comic was caught in limbo when Telltale Games closed abruptly, leaving two of the four planned episodes unfinished. Earlier this year, Skybound games, which is owned in part by Kirkman, announced they would be resuming production with as many of the Telltale developers as they could gather.

Today, it was revealed that the team is working in the old Telltale offices on the third and fourth episodes while calling themselves the “Still Not Bitten” team, a reference to the second season where Clementine kills a zombie and proves that she hasn’t been bitten by a walker. The third episode will see release on January 15.

This is a surprisingly quick release date for the game, which was only announced to have been resuming development in mid-November. It is likely, though, that a significant portion of work had already been done on the third episode when Telltale closed down. Using much of the same team also likely helped with picking up where they left off.

There is no word on the fourth and final episode, but judging by how quickly the third episode is coming, it likely shouldn’t be too long. The Walking Dead: The Final Season is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
