The next Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 beta is coming up soon–and it’ll be available on more platforms than the first one. The Weekend 2 event kicks off on August 10 at 10 AM PT for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as well as PC. To get in, you need a code that you can obtain by pre-ordering or other means. GameSpot is giving away codes–here’s how to enter.
If you’re playing on PC and willing to wait an extra day, there will be an open beta on PC starting on August 11. In all cases, the beta ends on August 13 at 10 AM PT. You can see the schedule below, as posted on the Call of Duty website.
The first Black Ops 4 beta weekend was only available on PlayStation 4 as part of the exclusivity deal between Activision and Sony. In addition to first access to the beta, PlayStation players get Call of Duty DLC before Xbox One and PC.
If the second weekend is the same as the first, you can expect four maps (Payload, Contraband, Seaside, and Frequency) as well as modes like Team Deathmatch, Control, Domination, and Search & Destroy.
The Black Ops 4 beta contains a small sampling of the full multiplayer package, which will include more maps, modes, scorestreakers, and weapons at launch. Additionally, Black Ops 4 will have a battle royale mode called Blackout; a beta for this is coming in September.
Activision stresses that the beta is not meant to be necessarily representative of the final product. So you might come across some bugs and other oddities, while things like weapon balance and polish is still to come.
“We’ll be listening to your feedback, collecting your bug reports, and assessing the data that we’re capturing about the performance of gameplay content so that the game is as balanced as it can be at launch,” Activision says. “It’s important that you participate in the conversation through social channels and Player Support so that your voice is heard.”
Black Ops 4 launches on October 12 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. That’s almost a month earlier than the normal for the franchise. Activision hasn’t said exactly why it moved the date, but it could have something to do with a little game called Red Dead Redemption 2, which launches on October 26.
