Making history, according to Phil Spencer.

Microsoft will have 14 Xbox Game Studios first-party titles at E3 this year.

As Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, pointed out on Twitter, that’s more first party games than Microsoft has ever had at an E3 press conference.

Microsoft currently has the most powerful console on the market with the Xbox One X, made strides with the Xbox Adaptive Controller, and offers plenty of value via its Game Pass service. But Microsoft’s lack of first-party games this generation has definitely been one of the biggest points of criticism leveled against them during the life of the Xbox One.

It’s a problem Microsoft is fully aware of and aiming to correct. In fact, just last year Microsoft was hiring with a focus towards developing exclusive titles for its consoles.  Before that, the company promised to invest more in making first-party games on several occasions.

While there’s no way just yet to know what the 14 Xbox Game Studios titles are, how impressive they will be, and when they’ll be released, we do have some sense of what the lineup could include. Halo Infinite and Gears 5 are, of course, natural contenders for an E3 press conference presence.

It’s also possible one of the many studios Xbox acquired last year could be ready to give us a tease of what they’re working on as newly minted first-party studios. Rare could continue to show off more Sea of Thieves content, while Mojang and Microsoft also recently announced Minecraft Earth and of course continue to update Minecraft itself. And there are rumors abound at what will be at E3 2019, including reports that a Fable revival will be showcased.

For everything else to expect at E3, be sure to check out our E3 2019 Wiki which includes all the games at E3 2019 and a complete schedule of all the conferences.
