Anthem is intended to be a multiplayer experience, but you can play Anthem on your own outside of Fort Tarsis. Here’s how to play Anthem expeditions solo with a few simple steps:
When you’re ready to take on the campaign, head to your Javelin. While you’re in the Expedition menu you’ll need to hit the bottom prompt indicated on the bottom of the Expedition menu for Privacy Settings.
If you’re using a controller, you’ll hit RS/R3. In this menu you can then choose to play privately, meaning no other players will be queued for your session.
Be mindful of the difficulty level you’ve chosen and the javelin you have equipped if you’re playing Anthem alone. The javelins all have their own kind of combat specialization and, if you’re playing on one of the harder difficulties, you may find yourself in incredibly tough situations. For instance, the Storm is great at dealing AOE (area of effect) damage, but generally isn’t as good at taking down single targets. The Ranger has more flexible abilities that allows it to take on single targets and groups.
Regardless of the javelin you choose, the key to success while playing solo is movement. There’s a good chance an enemy with a grenade or long-range ability will stun you if you stay in one place for too long.
