Banjo-Kazooie takes many of his moves and abilities straight from the games he starred in, including Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, and Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts.

His basic moveset includes:

  • Neutral Attack – Claw Swipe
  • Jab Flurry Attack – Rat-a-tat Rap
  • Dash Attack – Forward Roll
  • Down Tilt Attack – Beak Barge
  • Up Smash Attack – Bill Drill (multiple hits)
  • Side Smash Attack – Breegull Bash
  • Neutral Air Attack – Wing Whack
  • Back Air Attack – Rat-a-tat Rap (3 hits)
  • Down Air Attack – Beak Buster

Banjo-Kazooie’s Neutral Special lets him use Egg Firing to bounce out eggs at your opponents. However, by holding down B you can unleash Breegull Blaster, letting Banjo use Kazooie like a gun and move and shoot eggs at the time.

Their Side Special is an invincible charging attack called Wonder Wing, which will have priority over most all attacks. This comes at a cost, as it can only be used five times per stock – as seen by the golden leaf icons that appear when using the move. Note that you can still be blocked or grabbed when using this move.

Their Up Special is Shock Spring Jump, and allows them to create a springpad to jump from – and when used in certain situations, you can use the pad to hit other players. Unlike many other recoveries, you can still jump in mid-air after using it, allowing you to use additional recoveries or dodges after using the special. The more you charge, the farther you’ll fly upwards.

Their Down Special is the Rear Egg, which fires a grenade egg from behind Banjo. It can only be used to attack opponents behind you, and its shape allows it to bounce at random trajectories. Though it has a short detonation timer, it can still be grabbed and thrown as an item – and can be used either defensively to keep others at bay, or offensively when picked up to throw.

Banjo-Kazooie’s Final Smash is the Mighty Jinjonator. Once used to take down Gruntilda, the attack summons a large statue up in front of Banjo when used, and any enemies that are caught in the statue’s hit will suffer the wrath of the Jinjos and be launched with a devastating attack.
