Helldivers 2 is the game of the moment, garnering massive attention but also buckling under the weight of its soaring player counts. Arrowhead Game Studios prepared the third-person, live-service shooter for a busy weekend as more folks drop into the game, raising the player cap to 700,000 in the hopes of combatting the ongoing server issues. It seems to have worked. Company CEO Johan Pilestedt said on X/Twitter that the servers handled everyone without a hitch.

On February 25, Pilestedt said he’s “happy and proud” of the team for working so hard to keep Helldivers 2‘s servers stable for the newly released game. Since its February 8 launch on PC and PS5, the game has attracted hundreds of thousands of players, repeatedly breaking its own concurrent player records on Steam, which led to players encountering excessively long waits to access the game. Over the weekend between February 23 and 25, the game set another Steam concurrent player record, amassing 458,709 gamers. The server increase did its job, and Pilestedt said the team can now move on to improving the game.
