MLB The Show 23 was another big hit–right out of the stadium!–when it launched earlier this year, but if its initial price tag was a bit too hefty for your wallet, then your patience is about to pay off. As part of PlayStation’s Back to School sale, you can score both the regular edition and the special Captain Edition of MLB The Show 23 for PS5 at their lowest prices yet. The PS4 version is also on sale; you can grab it for $30. If you need a console to play it on, the PS5 is on sale for $450. Plus, you can get an extra DualSense controller (any color) to play ball against friends for only $49, the lowest price of the year.

The standard edition has been marked down from $70 to $40, while the PS4 edition is now $30 (was $60). For the fancier Captain Edition, this $100 edition is now $70 and comes with several extras. There’s a good-looking steelbook to keep the game disc in, plenty of DLC, and even a New Era MLB The Show cap for when you want to protect your face and eyes in style.

Though MLB The Show 23 isn’t a massive departure from previous games in the series, there’s still plenty to fall in love with here, from the excellent simulation of baseball down to the historical attention to detail that can be seen and felt in the various game modes on offer.

“The new seasonal structure to Diamond Dynasty should also make for a more interesting mode throughout the course of the year, and Storylines: The Negro Leagues is worth the price of admission alone,” Richard Wakeling wrote in GameSpot’s MLB The Show 23 review. “It may not move the needle in every area, but MLB The Show 23 is another deep sports title that will keep you busy long into October and beyond.”
