San Diego Comic-Con 2023 is back, and with it came a ton of news from the world of entertainment.

If you were unable to attend SDCC this year, no worries. IGN covered SDCC 2023 live and in-person, bringing you all the biggest news coming out of the convention. If you want to learn more about the collectibles and figurines announced at SDCC, check out our separate roundup on the topic.

Here’s a quick recap of everything announced during San Diego Comic-Con 2023.

Invincible: Season 2 Exclusive Poster Revealed

A day prior to SDCC starting, IGN exclusively revealed a poster for the highly anticipated second season of Prime Video’s adult animated series Invincible. We still do not have a premiere date other than “coming soon,” but series creator Robert Kirman will be at SDCC to promote the second season, with a panel scheduled for July 21 starting at 5:45pm PT.

The Walking Dead: Betrayal is a New Survival and Social Deception Game from Skybound

Another piece of news coming a day before SDCC was from Skybound Games, where the developer unveiled that it is working on a new multiplayer social deception survival game set in The Walking Dead universe. The Walking Dead: Betrayl will have players trying to survive the undead outbreak, where you will craft, cook, survive and communicate with party memebers, and maybe do a little bit of decieving along the way.

The Walking Dead: Betrayal is out later this year and wil release exlcusively on PC via Steam. A closed beta test is set for August 10.

The Boys Spinoff Gen V Premieres September 29

Leading up to San Diego Comic-Con 2023, Amazon Studios teased a September release window for its college-themed TV series. But on the first day of the convention, the studio revealed that GenV ill premiere on September 29 with three episodes with the first season finale scheduled for November 3.

Blizzard Unveils Some New Changes and Plans Coming to Diablo IV

During an interview with us, Diablo IV associate game director Joe Piepiora addressed the disconnect deaths that hardcore players have been experiencing while playing the game. Piepiora suggested that the Scroll of Escape could circumvent the issue. But Piepiora also explained that Blizzard is making a number of performance adjustments in Diablo IV’s first season that will help improve the connectivity.

Piepiora also elaborated more on Blizzard’s thought process around the controversial drop rate for Diablo 4’s coveted Uber Unique items.

The Borderlands Movie Hits Theatres Next Year

Lionsgate Films announced that its upcoming live-action adaptation of Borderlands will arrive on August 9, 2024. The film was announced back in 2015 and is being directed and written by Eli Roth.

Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake Gets August Release Date

Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake, a spinoff series on Cartoon Network’s critically-acclaimed animated series, will premiere on August 31. Alongside a release date we got our first trailer for the series.

The First Three Episodes of Secret Invasion Are Heading to Hulu

After lukewarm viewership reception, Disney announced that it is releasing the first three episodes of Marvel’s Secret Invasion to Hulu for a limited time starting tomorrow, July 21 and will be pulled from Hulu on August 17.

Pokemon Ultimate Journeys Will Air in the US on September 8

After 25 years as the protagonist of the Pokemon anime, Ash Ketchum and his pal Pikachu will bid the audience a fairtwell in Pokemon Ultimate Journeys. While the series aired first in Japan, fans based in the United States will get to watch Ash’s final arc, when the series hits Netflix on September 8.

Over 20 Minutes of Fresh Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem Footage Was Shown at SDCC

Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies decided to show over 20 minutes of new footage for its upcoming animated film based on the TMNT property. While we have an article that goes deeper into what was shown during the panel, be warned that it will spoil a good chunk of the movie before it hits theatres on August 2.

Of course, without spoiling anything, the clip shown at SDCC started off with the clip that IGN exclusively premiered last week. You can watch that above.

Harley Quinn Season 4 Gets New Trailer Ahead of July 27 Premiere

Harley Quinn’s fourth season premieres less than a week from now, and Warner Bros. Discovery shared a new trailer ahead of the premiere next week. The new two-minute-long trailer that premiered at SDCC showed us Harley Quinn. The show’s supervising producers also shared some new details on the upcoming season, including how they had to add “some plump” to Nightwing’s butt.

Nickelodeon Acquired the Rights to the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Series

During the TMNT: Mutant Mayhem panel, Nickelodeon confirmed that it has secured the rights to all 193 episodes of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series that aired from 1987 to 1996.

Sony Announces a Brand New Spider-Man Themed PS5 and DualSense Controller

As a tie-in for Spider-Man 2 which is out in a few months, Sony unveiled a new limited edition PS5 that is themed after the notable webslinger. The console and controller are black with a splash of red. Those that purchase the bundle will also recieve a digital copy of Spider-Man 2 and pre-orders open up next Friday, July 28.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 New Details and Trailer Appear at SDCC

At SDCC, Insomniac Games and PlayStation released a new trailer for Spider-Man 2, which gives us an in-depth look at Venom and touches a bit more on the upcoming game’s story. The trailer not only gives us a closer look at Venom, but other characters such as Kraven the Hunter, Harry Osborn, and Mister Negative, too. The Spider-Man 2 panel at SDCC also revealed new details about the game. This includes confirmation that Spider-Man 2 is set roughly 9-10 months after the events of Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
