In the film, Ackie’s character is a cape-wearing, horse-riding resistance fighter living on an oceanic planet, doing whatever she can to help main trio Finn, Poe, and Rey fend off the dark side. Before landing the role, Ackie was best known for dramatic turns as the perpetually wide-eyed Anna in Lady Macbeth and the vengeful Bonnie in the Netflix series The End of the F*ing World. She’s been acting, however, since she was 11, studying at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama to hone her craft. When she landed her Star Wars role at the age 26, she was still living at home with her dad, working the freelance life of an up-and-coming London actor.
