In speaking with Variety‘s Marc Malkin at the red carpet world premiere for The Rise of Skywalker last night, Disney CEO Bob Iger spoke about J.J. Abrams bringing the Skywalker saga to a conclusion. He was asked how many new Star Wars projects are currently in development, but Iger did not give a specific number, though he did say he believes that number is smaller than what the general public thinks it is. Iger mentioned the community’s overwhelmingly positive reaction to the introduction of “The Child” (Baby Yoda) in The Mandalorian Disney+ series and responded to the earlier comments by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy about the established film trilogy model being phased out with future Star Wars content.
