“As we’re getting closer to launching ‘single player’ Cyberpunk 2077 in Apr. 2020, we’d like to confirm that multiplayer’s in the works,” it said.

“The plan for now is to deliver Cyberpunk 2077 in April, then follow up with DLCs (free!) and single player content, and — once we’re done — invite you for some multiplayer action.”

The post links to CD Projekt Red’s recruitment page where eight jobs for a multiplayer team are listed, suggesting the mode is in very early stages. The roles include a design director, game designer, and a senior gameplay programmer.

As such there’s no word yet on what exactly Cyberpunk 2077’s multiplayer mode will look like. It could be combat-based in the vein of deathmatch lobbies or a battle royale, or the developers could decide to go down a shared online world route building something more akin to GTA Online – or they could throw out the rulebook and try something new.
