Marvel Games, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and more.

Marvel Entertainment officially unveiled its 2019 San Diego Comic-Con line-up, which includes panels from Marvel Games, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel Comics, Marvel Animation and more.

Announced by Marvel, its line-up will run from July 17 – July 21. It’s important to note this isn’t a line-up of any upcoming Marvel films. Here, Marvel will focus on several of its other fields of production.

In all, the panels are:

  • Marvel Games Panel (1:30pm PT, July 18, Hall H)
  • Marvel Television: Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (3:30 – 4:30pm PT, July 18, Hall H)
  • Marvel Comics #1000 Revealed: A This Week in Marvel Special Event (12:30 – 1:30pm PT, July 19, Room 5AB)
  • Marvel Comics: Spider-Man (1:30 – 2:30pm PT, July 19, Room 5AB)
  • Marvel Animation Celebrates Marvel’s 80th Anniversary (3:30 – 4:30pm PT, July 19, Room 6A)
  • Women of Marvel: 10 Years and 200 Episodes (10:00 – 11:30am PT, July 20, Room 5AB)
  • Marvel Comics: Next Big Thing (1:45 – 2:45am PT, July 20, Room 6A)
  • Marvel Comics: Marvel Fanfare with C.B. Cebulski (3:00 – 4:00pm PT, July 20, Room 6A)
  • Making Comics the Marvel Way (11:15am – 12:15pm PT, July 21, Room 5AB)

Marvel Entertainment at SDCC 2019: Games, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Marvel will kick SDCC off right with its Marvel Games Panel. Greg Miller of KindaFunny will host and be joined by Marvel Games VP and creative director Bill Rosemann, along with other special guests. This panel promises that “Attendees will see exciting new content from Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, Marvel’s Iron Man VR, and Marvel’s Avengers, with many unannounced surprises and panel exclusives.”

Later that day, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will come to Hall H for the first time ever. Those included in the panel are actors Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Elizabeth Henstridge, Iain De Caestecker, Henry Simmons, Natalia Cordova-Buckley, and Jeff Ward, along with executive producers Maurissa Tancharoen, Jed Whedon, Jeff Bell, and Jeph Loeb. The panel promises to discuss the “show-stopping conclusion” for the ongoing sixth season and what’s coming in the seventh season.

Marvel Entertainment at SDCC 2019: #1000 Revealed, Spider-Man, 8th Anniversary

On Friday, July 19, the Marvel Comics #1000 Revealed: A This Week in Marvel Special Event panel will kick the day off with its official podcast led by host Ryan Penagos and C.B. Cebulski, Marvel Comics editor-in-chief to discuss Marvel Comics #1,000 with several Marvel Creators.

Then, the Marvel Comics: Spider-Man panel will be led by executive editor Nick Lowe, assistant editor Kathleen Wisneski, and writers Nick Spencer, Seanan McGuire, and Frank Tieri. The panel will discuss “Spider-Man’s mysterious new foe,” Ghost Spider, Absolute Carnage and more.

There will then be a Marvel Animation Celebrates Marvel’s 80th Anniversary panel, which includes Cort Lane (SVP, Animation and Family Entertainment), Kalia Ramirez (director, Family Entertainment – Development & Partnerships), writers Mark Hoffmeier and Marty Isenberg, and voice actors Josh Keaton (Spectacular Spider-Man) and Jennifer Hale (Wolverine). These panelists will “take a journey through highlights of over five decades of Marvel cartoons. Including behind-the-scenes dish on the making of classic shows, a run-down of all ten of Spider-Man’s series, and a 10th anniversary retrospective of Marvel’s Animation division.”

Marvel Entertainment at SDCC 2019: Women of Marvel, Making Comics the Marvel Way

Saturday, July 20 will bring the Women of Marvel: 10 Years and 200 Episodes panel with hosts Sana Amanat and Judy Stephens to discuss what it’s like working as a woman in comics; the Marvel Comics: Next Big Thing panel with hosts Jonathan Hickman and C.B. Cebulski to discuss “what comes next for the X-Men after the senses-shattering revelations of the House of X and Powers of X!”; and the Marvel Comics: Marvel Fanfare with C.B. Cebulski panel, where this editor-in-chief will be joined by Rob Liefeld and Scottie Young to discuss House of X, Absolute Carnage, Dazzler and more.

Sunday, July 21 features the Making Comics the Marvel Way panel, where “A slew of Mighty Marvel guests take you behind-the-scenes and show you how a Marvel comic book is made! Learn about every aspect of production including writing, penciling, inking, coloring, editing, and more – with creators on hand to offer personal insights and anecdotes.”

Marvel’s Avengers, Iron Man VR, Ultimate Alliance 3

It’s notable that Marvel is kicking SDCC 2019 off with its Marvel Games panel, as it has three major games in the pipeline: Marvel’s Avengers, Iron Man VR and Marvel’s Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order. Marvel’s Avengers was unveiled at E3 2019, and Square Enix’s president hopes it will ‘Best’ Insomniac’s PS4 gameMarvel’s Spider-Man. Iron Man VR was unveiled during Sony’s first State of Play as a PlayStation VR game. Ultimate Alliance 3 is a Nintendo Switch game with a release date of July 19, 2019 – the day after the Marvel Games panel.
