“Most likely it won’t be possible to max out everything on one playthrough.”
UPDATE (6/24/19) – Paweł Sasko answered another question via a Twitter direct message and, this time, it was focused all on how important romances will be in Cyberpunk 2077.
Posted on Reddit by u/Magired1234, Sasko confirmed that romances will be returning in a similar fashion as they were seen in The Witcher 3. As explained by Sasko, “there were whole plotlines regarding character and if that NPCs were treated well and interested in Geralt, something was happening.”
According to Sasko, this will be “very similar” in Cyberpunk 2077, and “of course players will have way more options then only heterosexual, as it was in the Witcher 3 (as Geralt was a defined character that was only interested in females).”
In Cyberpunk 2077, “you can define what type of interactions your character prefers and have a relationship with that NPC / NPCs :).”
Original story follows.
New Game Plus and Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077’s lead quest designer Paweł Sasko has hinted that a New Game Plus Mode may be in the works for the highly anticipated game from CD Projekt Red.
Via Reddit, user u/CaptainGJB direct messaged Sasko on Twitter and asked him if it would be possible to “have a character with every stat/ability maxed out, or will it be closer to [The Witcher 3] in that there’s limited upgrade slots?”
Sasko answered that, while they are still working on character progression and it may change in time, “most likely it won’t be possible to max out everything on [one] playthrough, as it would have little sense to have a game that is about replayability and choices, while in the same time allow the players to max out all the stats on the first run.”
While Sasko didn’t outright say it, this very much indicates that the team appears to be planning on having Cyberpunk 2077 become a game that encourages multiple playthroughs with certain stats and skills carrying over between them.
The Witcher 3 did not have a New Game Plus mode at launch, but it was added to the game and enabled experience, items, money, and alchemy recipes carry over to a brand new playthrough.
