Shenmue 3 will now arrive in November.
Shenmue 3 has been delayed again. However, this time it is only for a few months as “the game simply needs a little more refinement before being truly finished.”
Series creator Yu Suzuki and publisher Deep Silver posted an update to all of the game’s Kickstarter backers confirming that Shenmue 3’s scheduled release date of August 27, 2019, has now moved to November 19, 2019.
They promise the game is “almost ready,” and just needs a bit more time to “deliver the true Shenmue experience players around the world deserve!”
First announced at E3 2015, Shenmue 3 went on to have the most funded video game Kickstarter ever with $6.3 million USD.
While the wait has been long for Shenmue 3 since its announcement, fans of the series have had the chance to replay the original titles as Shenmue 1 and 2 were released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC last year.
From our Shenmue 3 preview earlier this year, we said that “with the third installment coming 18 years after the last iteration, Shenmue still isn’t for everyone. But for the fans, it indeed looks to be “a dream come true”.”
Barring any further last minute delays, fans will be able to play this “dream come true” in just a few short months on PlayStation 4 and PC.
