Many seem to be complaining as a way to keep Spider-Man in the MCU (for the record, the companies are still in negotiations so there is some hope left), but others appear to be completely serious about the boycott.

Some fans are going beyond simply saying they’ll be boycotting Sony Pictures, claiming they’ll boycott Sony’s PS4 as well.
It’s worth noting that as of Monday, Marvel’s Spider-Man
developer Insomniac Games is officially a Sony first-party studio, meaning the next Spider-Man game will undoubtedly be a PlayStation exclusive, regardless of this MCU deal.
On the other end of the spectrum, many fans have noted that while they may be down to boycott Sony films, boycotting their PS4 is off the table.
Beyond the trending boycotts, petitions are popping up trying to keep Spider-Man in the MCU. A couple from Change.org are getting some attention, with KEEP SPIDER-MAN IN THE MCU and Keep Spider-Man with Disney and the MCU both gaining ground.
