Capcom released new footage of the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne expansion, which includes gameplay featuring Glavenus, a better look at the new hub area Seliana, and a tease of Brachydios. After showing the fierce blade-tailed Glavenus in action for the first time, the trailer moves on to show never-before-seen variant monsters. As first revealed with the Shrieking Legiana, new subspecies monsters are being introduced to Iceborne, and promise to offer “extreme, twisted variations that amp up the difficulty and require master-level hunting skills to defeat.” Fulgur Anjanath uses thunder element to deal damage instead of the standard Anjanath’s fire element. Ebony Odogaron uses dragon element while the standard doesn’t use any element (but does inflict bleed). Players can most likely expect new armor sets for these variants as well.

Iceborne: Seliana, Palico Upgrades, Brachydios Tease

The latest trailer also gave us a better look at Seliana: Iceborne’s hub that’s built around interactive hot springs in Hoarfrost Reach. Seliana includes centralized facilities and features the Smithy to craft gear, and a resource center to manage bounties or botanical research. “My Room” is also available in Seliana, and includes new personalization options including furniture, decor and colors, with a post-launch update planned that will let other players visit your spaces.

In addition to this, Palico will also receive upgraded gadgets and new options. These include the Shieldspire Stooge, “a mobile decoy that draws a monster’s attention away from the player,” and the Meowcano, “a giant jar that shoots out fireballs at enemies,” and an enhanced Vigorwasp that can “revive players immediately back into battle if they faint,” an ability that was first teased in the Iceborne release date trailer.

New Monsters in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne

New Squad Cards featuring info on a respective team can be sent to invite others to join a group, like how Guild Cards for each hunter can be traded individually. Sub-leaders have also been added for Squad teams, and can share duties like recruiting and accepting team requests.

At the end of this newest trailer, explosive slime appears on an Uragaan, signaling the return of Brachydios, which inflicts Blastblight with its slime attacks. Brachydios is a Brute Wyvern first introduced in Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. This continued the trend of monsters being added from the Monster Hunter 15th Anniversary key art.
