You’re gonna need at least three friends.
Duos in Battlefield 5’s battle royale “Firestorm” mode has been officially removed by DICE. In a Reddit thread, originally reported by VG24/7, DICE community manager Freeman explained that the mode failed to consistently draw enough players, who instead preferred solos or squads.
Duos was originally launched as a limited time mode in April, and was subsequently removed not long after. According to Freeman, enough players voiced their interest in duos mode for DICE to implement it as a permanent mode.
“Since then, we’ve seen more folks jump back into Squads mode, with less preferring to Firestorm it up in Duo – so we’re going to get back to the original plan today and we’ve disabled it’s matchmaking,” Freeman wrote.
Solo and squads modes are still available, same as they were at the launch of Battlefield 5’s Firestorm mode.
Will duos mode return? “We never say never. We’re confident that we’ll see it again!” Freeman says.
“We’re going to look at ways to ensure that you all have the opportunity to enjoy these modes after their initial availability, without compromising the matchmaking experiences for players who’d prefer to stay with the base game modes,” Freeman added.
