Farming Stellar Jade in Honkai Star Rail is your ticket to more characters and weapons, and you don’t even have to pay for it. While some methods of obtaining Stellar Jade are limited–completing missions or clearing certain objectives, for example–others are recurring and reward you with substantial amounts of the space crystals.
You can also buy them outright by purchasing Oneiric Shards from the in-game store. However, we don’t recommend doing that. You could wind up with nothing decent from the Warp banners, which means you just chucked your money out the window. Here we’ll go over why you should work to obtain Stellar Jade, how you can do so efficiently, and what you can spend the currency on.
What is Stellar Jade for in Honkai Star Rail?
Stellar Jade is an in-game currency you can exchange for Rail Passes or Special Rail Passes, which you use on Warps. That’s Star Rail-speak for character and Light Cone banners, which is gacha-speak for “how you get new characters and weapons.”
There’s no other use for Stellar Jade, but since the amount of Jade you can get for free in each update is limited, make sure to think carefully before deciding which banners to spend it on.
How to get Stellar Jade in Honkai Star Rail
Developer HoYoverse gives you plenty of methods to stockpile the shiny currency, though some of them are easier and faster to complete than others. A few require you to shell out real-life cash, and some you can earn just by playing the game normally.
Complete Trailblazer quests
Trailblazer quests are Honkai Star Rail’s main story quests, and finishing them usually earns you about 80 Stellar Jade–sometimes less, if the mission is fairly short. It’s by far the easiest way to get a decent amount of Jade, but you’ll eventually run out of quests to do. Side quests will also reward you with Stellar Jade, so keep an eye out for those.
Raise your Trailblazer level
When you raise your Trailblazer level, by completing quests and other activities, speak to Pom Pom on the Astral Express to claim some rewards. These almost always include Stellar Jade, Rail Passes, or both, and in Star Rail’s early hours, you can raise your Trailblazer level pretty easily.
At level 25 and 35, you can also claim 800 Stellar Jade each from the “Trailblazing Will” section of the Travel Log.
Purchase the Express Supply Pass
The Express Supply Pass costs $4.99 and gives you 90 Stellar Jade once a day, every day for a month, along with a one-time infusion of 300 Oneiric Shards that you can convert to 300 Stellar Jade. It’s the most reliable way to get Stellar Jade without having to do anything.
Open chests
You get a set number of Stellar Jade for opening treasure chests on the world map. Common chests give you a handful, but you can get 60 or more from the rarer chests. You’ll often find formidable foes guarding these valuable boxes, and defeating them also rewards you with Stellar Jade.
Purchase using world currency
Every world in Honkai Star Rail has its own currency and at least one shop you can spend it at. These stores sell a variety of character and Light Cone materials, and you can claim Stellar Jade after spending a certain amount of currency.
Clear Herta’s Simulated Universe
Make sure to regularly check back with Herta and clear new Simulated Universe challenges to unlock new blessings in the simulation. You earn 80 Stellar Jade every time you reach a new milestone of blessings unlocked.
Challenge the Forgotten Hall
The Forgotten Hall is Honkai Star Rail’s version of Genshin Impact’s Spiral Abyss. It’s a set of challenges designed for the endgame that tasks you with winning difficult battles and clearing certain objectives. Like the Spiral Abyss, the Forgotten Hall is divided in two portions: Memory and Memory of Chaos. Both reward you with Stellar Jade, though you can only clear the Memory challenges once. Memory of Chaos challenges will update periodically.
All total, as of the launch version, you can earn up to 3,000 Stellar Jade this way.
Complete Operation Briefing objectives
The Interastral Guide menu includes an “Operation Briefing” tab, which is where you’ll find a set of tasks such as ascending characters or completing certain objectives. Finishing these gives you some rewards, including Rail Passes, and you get a few dozen Stellar Jade once you finish an entire page of them.
Take part in limited-time events
The launch version didn’t include any, but Honkai Star Rail will eventually host several limited-time events, similar to Genshin Impact. Taking part in these will earn you Stellar Jade and other valuable rewards.
Redeem promo codes
Also like Genshin Impact, HoYoverse will periodically release promotional codes you can redeem to get more Stellar Jade, credits, and one or two other item types. These don’t show up frequently, but it’s always worth using them when they do appear. We keep our Honkai Star Rail code page up to date, so check back often.
Daily training
Once you reach the underworld on Jarilo-VI and complete the “Hide and Seek” Trailblazer quest, you unlock the daily training feature. Daily training presents you with a small set of tasks each day–hence the name–and completing these tasks earns you a set number of training points. Reaching point milestones earns you rewards, including Stellar Jade and you can get 45 Stellar Jade each day this way.
These aren’t the same as daily assignments. Those quests reward you with character materials, but no Jade.
Complete character aptitude tests
A set of aptitude tests becomes available with every new character banner. These are trial battles designed to showcase how a character performs in battle, and you can get 20 Stellar Jade by completing the 5-star character’s test.
Increase your Nameless Honor rank
Nameless Honor is Honkai Star Rail’s battle pass, and if you have the paid version of it, you earn 680 Stellar Jade once you reach the end. It’s not the most efficient method, but it works.
