You can now pet dogs in Red Dead Online, thanks to a recent update that added a considerable amount of features, but almost certainly all less important than this one.

Observant Red Dead Redemption 2

fans might be asking themselves “wasn’t there already dog-petting in the game?” That’s correct, but only for the single-player story mode. The new feature was spotted and shared on social media by the now-infamous Can You Pet the Dog Twitter account, which catalogs video games that let you show your love for our four-legged friends.

Twitter user @ROtavatOR smartly points out that it’s more of a gentle slap on the leg than a pet, though. You be the judge, though.

It’s part of the new Frontier Pursuits update, which adds new Specialist roles for your character to choose from, along with new items, horse breeds, clothing choices, and more. You can keep up with the game’s latest happenings by going to IGN’s hub page for Red Dead Redemption 2 or consulting our massive wiki guide.
