Apple announced that its next iPhone event will take place on September 10 at 10 a.m. PST. Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 11 at the Steve Jobs Theater at its headquarters in Cupertino, California.
Apple’s invitation doesn’t explicitly reference what it will be announcing at the event, but according to rumors overheard by The Verge, three new iPhone models may be presented. These will most likely include successors to the current iPhone XR, the iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max.
Two of those phones are expected to show off Apple’s new triple-camera system, and the XS Max’s next incarnation may feature an even bigger screen size, going from the original 5.8 inches to 6.1 inches.
It’s also reasonable to expect some announcements about Apple Arcade, Apple’s new subscription gaming service. Available this fall, Apple Arcade is a single subscription service that gives players access to more than 100 new games, all playable on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV devices.
Apple has said the service won’t feature any ads, and will allow for offline play and up to six family members to share an account. Apple Arcade will reportedly feature games from well-known figures like Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, SEGA, Annapurna Interactive, Cartoon Network, and others.
As for other iPhone rumors, The Verge reports that the new iPhone models could possibly support bidirectional wireless charging, which will allow devices to charge airpods while they’re in their new wireless charging case. Other suggested improvements include better shatter protection, biometric Face ID security upgrades, and upgraded battery life.
Odds are that Apple won’t restrict its event to any one of these product lines, so expect to likely hear about at least a number of them.
Last year, Apple took the time to announce the Apple Watch Series 4 and updates to the Homepod. The Verge also reports of rumors that a new 16-inch Macbook model may be on the way, along with a new iPad and iPad Pro model. Historically, Apple hasn’t announced those products alongside iPhones, however. Lastly, Apple will also likely give final details on its TV streaming service.
Stay tuned for more as we’ll be reporting live from the event on September 10th.
