During a panel at FanExpo Denver moderated by Collider’s Maggie Lovitt, K-2SO actor Alan Tudyk was asked several questions about the second season of Andor, sharing how we missed a big chunk in building the relationship between Cassian and the KX-series droid.

Is K-2SO is more loyal to Cassian or the Rebellion?

“I think K-2 has always been committed to Cass. That was my connection with the character from the very beginning… He cares what Cassian says. If he says, ‘You have to stay behind’ or ‘You have to grab the back’ it’s like, ‘Now I actually have to do it.’ And he’s going to.”

He also admitted that because the team had to “cram everything into the second season, you missed a big chunk of us getting to know each other.” Most would agree that the right things made it into the final cut, considering Andor Season 2 is the highest-rated Star Wars project ever. Still, it would have been nice to see more of Cassian (Diego Luna) and K-2SO bonding. Tudyk also confirmed that, when portraying K-2SO during his brief moments in Andor Season 2, he used those cut scenes to influence his performance:

“A lot of the things I had in my mind about Cassian and K-2 are in that blank space that we don’t get to see, and that’s how they get to care about one another. That’s how we thought about it.”
