The physical edition of Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland launches December 6, and Nintendo Switch users can save 10 bucks at Amazon. With the discount, the Switch edition of the new retro-style platformer is $30. Limited Run Games is also publishing a boxed edition for PS5, but it isn’t eligible for the discount. We rarely see preorder or launch-day discounts like this at Amazon, so if you were thinking of picking up the new Rugrats game as a holiday gift, this is a nice (and surprising) offer.
$30 (was $40) | Releases December 6
Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland is a simple 2D platformer where players explore six levels as the characters Tommy, Chucky, Phil, and Lil from the 90s cartoon. The game features single-player and co-op modes and two graphical options: a hand-drawn HD style that matches the look of the Rugrats cartoon and an 8-bit pixel option that turns the game into a classic NES-style platformer. While collectors will certainly be interested in the game, it’s also a fun title for younger players, especially since the co-op mode lets parents and kids easily play together.
This actually isn’t the only physical edition of Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland made by Limited Run Games. Earlier this year, the publisher had limited-edition Switch and PS5 versions with different cover art, and there were even two physical NES cart editions. All of those editions are sold out, so this new PS5 and Switch printing is currently the only way to secure a boxed copy of the game.
The $10 discount for the Switch cartridge version is nice, but it’s worth noting that Adventures in Gameland is available for $25 on the Switch eShop, PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, and PC via Steam and Epic. The digital version launched on September 10.
