Square Enix has been slowly revitalizing the SaGa series over the past few years, and the RPG franchise’s next big release, Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, launches tomorrow, October 24 for PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Physical edition preorders are in stock for $50 on PS5 and Nintendo Switch at major retailers, including Amazon and Best Buy. Depending on your location, you could still get release-day delivery from Amazon as a Prime member, or you could order online and pick up your copy at your local Best Buy store.

Meanwhile, PC players can snag a Steam key for $42.49 at Green Man Gaming with promo code OCT15. If you purchase a physical or digital copy for console or PC before tomorrow’s launch, you’ll get several in-game bonuses.

If you purchase a physical or digital copy for console or PC before tomorrow’s launch, you’ll get two in-game bonuses:

  • Cat’s Amulet – 10% Revenue Boost
  • Shiyuan’s Tactical Primer – 10% Technique Boost

Cat’s Amulet and Shiyuan’s Tactical Primer will only provide these boosts for the first Imperial Year (1001), but they could be helpful for newcomers or those who want to move a bit faster through the early portion of the game.

While the series started as a Final Fantasy spin-off called Final Fantasy Legend, the SaGa series quickly evolved into its own unique franchise. Unlike many other JRPGs of the 90s, the SaGa games are notable for offering non-linear storylines and complex character building systems that were more akin to 90s computer RPGs. Romancing SaGa 2 sees players take the role of various members of a royal family as they fight to maintain their empire, and stave off world-ending threats. There’s also an entire castle building mechanics where you construct and manage fortresses around your kingdom. Like other games in the series, where you go, who you talk to, and which side quests you complete can have drastic changes on how the story unfolds. It’s a surprisingly open-ended experience, even by modern standards, and this new remake is the perfect opportunity to give it a go, or revisit it and try for an entirely different story path.

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven looks to be a great way to jump into the SaGa series, but plenty of other games in the series are available on modern platforms. The latest all-new release is SaGa: Emerald Beyond, but other titles like Romancing SaGa: Minstrel’s Song Remastered, Collection of SaGa: Final Fantasy Legend, and more are also worth checking out if you’re curious about this cult-favorite JRPG series. PC players can save 15% on the Steam versions at Green Man Gaming with promo code OCT15.
