These ornate hardcovers feature all-new, full-color illustrations and even interactive papercraft and pop-up elements, making them one of the coolest editions of Harry Potter. The box set includes interactive editions of Sorcerer’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets, and Prisoner of Azkaban. Each book has the full, unabridged text and illustrations on most pages. Each book also includes eight unique interactive pieces, adding tactile elements to important moments in each story, like opening Harry’s Hogwarts invitation letter in The Sorcerer’s Stone or spinning the Time Turner in The Prisoner of Azkaban. The collection includes a display box with illustrations of the Hogwarts Express and the moment when Harry finally secures one of the many Hogwarts acceptance letters flooding the Dursley home.

You can grab the Harry Potter Books 1-3 MinaLima Edition Box Set at Amazon, Target, and Walmart, all of which currently have the collection available for $86.72 (was $116).

The MinaLima Edition Harry Potter books are also available individually, and you can grab them all at even bigger discounts. Right now, grabbing all three standalone editions will cost you just $69.20 total. You’ll miss out on the special collector’s box, but otherwise these hardcover editions are identical to those in the box set.

If you’re interested in these unique editions of Harry Potter, you should know that you won’t be able to complete your set of MinaLima Harry Potter books. After this collection was revealed earlier this year, Scholastic announced that the interactive edition Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire will have a new illustrator.

It will be interesting to see if Scholastic winds up releasing new versions of the first three books to ensure uniformity (readers love matching sets). Studio MinaLima designed the props for the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts adaptations, so its history with Harry Potter dates back further than the interactive books. There’s even a MinaLima-designed book about the studio’s work with the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts movies; The Magic of MinaLima is available for $26.53 (was $50) at Amazon.

And while the books are unique compared to the many other editions of Harry Potter, MinaLima created similar editions of other popular books before Sorcerer’s Stone. MinaLima’s catalog includes beautiful editions of classic children’s books, including Peter Pan (2015), The Jungle Book (2016), Beauty and the Beast (2017), The Little Mermaid (2018), Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (2020), The Wizard of Oz (2021), and more. If you take a look at any of those books, you’ll see the studio has a distinct style. If the Harry Potter interactive editions simply continue, it seems likely readers would be able to notice the change when moving from book three to four.

If you’re looking for more new illustrated Harry Potter books to add to your collection, there’s the upcoming Christmas At Hogwarts hardcover edition. The book features Chapter 12 of The Sorcerer’s Stone, which tells of Harry’s first Christmas while attending Hogwarts. The text is accompanied by all-new illustrations of festive and wintery scenes from Hogwarts. Christmas at Hogwarts will release on October 15, and you can preorder it for $14 (normally $20) at Amazon.

There’s also the Harry Potter Illustrated Editions, which are oversized, coffee table-style books that debuted in 2015. The first five books in the series are available in this format, and multiple of them are available for close to 50% off at Amazon.

The Harry Potter series is one of the most popular media franchises of the last few decades, but its reputation has been tarnished in recent years due to repeated transphobic statements from the series’ author and creator, J.K. Rowling. As the owner of the Harry Potter IP, she directly profits from sales of Harry Potter books, merch, and other licensed projects even if she was not directly involved in their creation. We encourage readers to read this post that explains more about how Rowling’s statements harm the global trans community.
