One of the easiest items to customize in Minecraft is the banner, which can be recolored and patterned to your liking. Banners are also used in a couple of different recipes, so knowing how to make one is going to be quite useful as you progress. To see how to craft a banner in Minecraft, check out the guide below.
Making Banners in Minecraft
Banners only require two main ingredients to craft, but you need a different ingredient depending on what color you want to make your banner. You’ll also need several of one ingredient, so you might not make too many banners in one go. You can see the full crafting recipe for a banner below:
- At a crafting table, place six colored wool blocks across the top two rows.
- Then, place a single stick in the bottom middle box to make a banner that correlates to whatever colored wool you placed in the table.
Obviously, the biggest hurdle to making a banner in Minecraft is getting the required number of wool blocks. To make things easier, though, you can get six pieces of regular wool, which are received from killing sheep, and then dying them to whatever color you need. We went over how to make dye in a previous guide, but you need some specific materials that match the color of whatever dye you’re trying to make. With your dye, you can then head into a crafting table, dye your wool blocks, and use the wool blocks to make a colored banner.
If you ever want to make your banner a plain white banner to add a different color to it, you can use bleach on the banner at a crafting table. This also removes any patterns you may have placed on the banner. This is only available in Bedrock Edition, however.
