The Halo TV show’s second season launched on 4K Blu-ray today (July 23). While fans can now add the physical edition to their shelves, the release comes just days after Paramount+ canceled the Halo TV series, despite Season 2 receiving stronger reviews from critics and fans. The production team says it will try to find a new home for the show, but it’s possible that we may never see the live-action Master Chief finish the fight.

The cancellation also means Blu-ray editions of both seasons may not be printed for much longer, and there could be increased interest in the 4K steelbook editions, in particular. Amazon has Season 2’s 4K limited edition for $50 (was $59), and you can pair the new release with Season 1’s 4K steelbook edition for $39 (was $60).

Halo: Season Two Special Features

Whether you opt for the 4K or Blu-ray edition, you’ll gain access to over two hours of bonus features. This includes:

  • Halo the Series: Declassified Episodes 1-8
  • Silver Team Returns
  • Kiki’s Favorite Set: The Condor
  • Brining the 26th Century to Life
  • A Visit to Luma Pictures
  • Building A Covenant Warship
  • Making The Fall of Reach
  • The House of Soren
  • Writing for Halo S2
  • Bigger Better Props

Considering Halo: Season 2 may be the last Blu-ray release the show gets, either version is worth picking. With that in mind, it’s also wise to pick up the Blu-ray editions of Halo: Season 1 if you haven’t already since those could disappear soon, too. Thankfully, a variety of deals are available for the show’s first season. If you’re looking for another limited-edition steelbook, you’ll find the Halo: Season 1 Steelbook on 4K for $38 (down from $59) at Amazon and Walmart. If you don’t care about steelbooks, you can save a bit of cash with the Halo: Season 1 4K UHD Edition or the standard Blu-ray version, both of which are currently available for $28. Depending on your location, Prime members can benefit from free next-day shipping on all titles.

Fans of the show should also consider preordering The Making of Halo The Series: Hope, Heroism, Humanity. The upcoming book will give Halo fans an in-depth look at the creation of the now-canceled Paramount+ series. It’s set to release on November 5 and is available to preorder for $50 at Amazon.

In other Halo Blu-ray news, Red vs. Blue Restoration, the final chapter in the popular Halo web series, is set to release on October 8. Preorders are live now at Amazon for $17 (was $20).
