The Boys won’t be back in action until next month, but Amazon isn’t waiting around to renew Prime Video’s anti-superhero series. Prime Video has officially announced that The Boys Season 5 is on the way, which will continue to adapt the comic book series by Garth Ennis and artist Darrick Robertson. And unlike Netflix’s recent renewal of The Witcher for a fifth season, The Boys Season 5 will not be the end of the show’s run.
“The Boys could be the best job I’ll ever have,” said showrunner and executive producer Eric Kripke. “What other show allows me to write about politics, capitalism, family, and exploding genitalia, though not in that order. The cast and crew are deeply grateful to Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios for the opportunity to tell this story for another season. My only problem is that since this year promises to be free of any conflict or misinformation, we’re not sure what to write about.”
As previously announced, The Boys’ spin-off series, Gen V, will also return for a second season. Since that season will begin filming in May, Gen V will likely return in 2025. The Boys has typically had two years between seasons, so the show may not be back until 2026.
In the meantime, The Boys Season 4 will premiere on June 13 with three new episodes. The remaining episodes of the season will be shown weekly until the season finale on July 18.
