Dune: Part Two is coming later this year, and according to star Rebecca Ferguson, it’s leaps and bounds different and better than the first one.
Speaking to Collider, Ferguson said the sequel is “so f**king good.” She said she gets emotional talking about the film because she’s so excited by the work done by director Denis Villeneuve, cinematographer Greig Fraser, and the entire team.
“Number one is phenomenal and big and grandiose, and then you go close-ups and the imagery and the acting. Yeah, it’s all great. It’s f**king nothing compared to number two. Number two, it’s like a f**king gut punch. It’s unreal,” Ferguson said.
She hasn’t seen the movie yet, but has seen footage and has been thoroughly impressed.
“It’s unbelievable. There are no words,” she said, going on to praise the costume work from designer Jacqueline West and the performances by Austin Butler and Christopher Walken.
Villeneuve’s 2021 adaptation of Dune, based on the 1965 novel of the same name by Frank Herbert, was a critical success nominated for ten Academy Awards–taking home six. It also enjoyed box office success and was a big mover for HBO Max as well.
Alongside Ferguson, Butler, Walken, and Timothee Chalamet, the all-star cast includes Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Léa Seydoux, Stellan Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem.
Dune: Part Two arrives in theaters on November 3. A third movie, which adapts Messiah, is expected to follow after that and conclude the trilogy.
