The first Fire Emblem to release internationally will arrive on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass on June 23. Called Fire Emblem originally–also now known as Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade–the Game Boy Advance title is actually the seventh installment in the long-running strategy RPG series.
Fire Emblem launched on the GBA in North America in 2003. Before that, the only exposure Western audiences had with the franchise was Roy and Marth appearing in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Fire Emblem follows a trio of Super Mario Advance titles that joined Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass last month. The GBA library is exclusive to this premium tier of the subscription service, which costs $50 yearly.
Game Boy and GBA games came to Nintendo Switch Online in February. The former’s library is available on the basic tier of the service, which is $20 annually. You can find titles there like The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, Super Mario Land 2, and Metroid II: Return of Samus.
In addition, Nintendo added a unique Kirby game and the original Harvest Moon to Switch Online earlier this month. Kirby Tilt ‘n’ Tumble actually lets you use the Switch system (or even a Pro controller) to move around the pink puffball with gyro controls.
