With Robert Pattinson preparing to suit up as the titular Caped Crusader in The Batman, more characters are taking shape in the upcoming film from director Matt Reeves. Following reports of both Jonah Hill and Jeffrey Wright being up for roles in the movie, an important piece of casting has been revealed.

Big Little Lies star Zoe Kravitz will take on the role of Catwoman in the film. The news comes from Variety, though it was seemingly confirmed by Reeves in a tweet. To win the part, THR reports that Kravitz went through a testing process, which included reading with Pattinson.

Other actresses up for the role includes Ana de Armas (Blade Runner 2049), Ella Balinska (Charlie’s Angels), and Eiza Gonzalez (Hobbs & Shaw). The testing process took place earlier in October, with a decision being made over the weekend.

This will not be the first time Kravitz has dabbled with superhero films. She previously appeared as Angel Salvadore in X-Men: First Class. While the character did not appear in subsequent movies, it was revealed in X-Men: Days of Future Past that she had been killed prior to the events of the film.

The Batman is currently scheduled to debut in theaters on June 25, 2021. Before then, Birds of Prey will arrive on February 7 of next year, and Wonder Woman 1984 hits on June 5.
