creative director, Tim Longo, has left 343 Industries, Microsoft confirmed. Executive Producer Mary Olson will now lead the Campaign team for Halo Infinite, and 343 studio head Chris Lee remains overall the lead on the game’s overall vision.Kotaku reported that Longo, who served as creative director on Halo 5, moved to a different role within 343 Industries last week, but left the company completely this week. Microsoft did not provide a reason for Longo’s departure, but wished him well in a statement provided to IGN.
“Tim Longo has recently departed our team and we are truly thankful for his many contributions to our games, our studio and the Halo universe,” Microsoft said.
Microsoft also confirmed a leadership shakeup that now sees Halo executive producer Mary Olson as the head of the Halo Infinite campaign team. Furthermore, Microsoft says that, “The overall creative vision and production of the game remains led by Chris Lee, Studio Head of Halo Infinite.”
Microsoft’s statement also reiterated Halo Infinite’s holiday 2020 release window, confirming: “These changes have no impact to the release date for Halo Infinite.” The game is still set to be a launch title for Microsoft’s next-gen Xbox, Project Scarlett.
343 Industries released the best look into Halo Infinite at E3 2019 earlier this year with a full cinematic trailer reveal. It still took months before fans discovered a hidden message within the trailer itself.
343 Industries took over the Halo franchise from Bungie in 2007. Since then, 343 Industries released Halo 4, Halo 5: Guardians, and the Halo Master Chief Collection. The Master Chief Collection was confirmed for PC earlier this year.
