Synergy Attacks in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order are powerful attacks that combine two heroes’ Abilities at the same time. Some Infinity Trials require these attacks, so it’s important to learn how to do them. Here’s everything you need to know about Synergy Attacks in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3.

How to Do Synergy Attacks[edit]

To perform a Synergy Attack, you must first make sure at least two characters on your team have Abilities that have Synergy. They need Abilities that share matching Synergy Traits, or have two different Synergy Traits that are compatible.

You can check the Synergy Trait by going to the Team menu and checking Abilities.

Continue below for a complete List of Compatible Synergy Traits

As long as you meet this criteria, performing it in single-player mode is easy. Once you’re fighting, press ZR instead of R. This will bring up what looks like the usual Ability menu. However, if you’re close enough to a teammate with a compatible Ability, their picture will pop-up instead.

Now simply use that Ability to trigger a Synergy Attack. If the character icon isn’t appearing, it means you’re either too far away or don’t have enough Energy.

If you’re playing co-op, you will both have to coordinate and use the correct Abilities at the same time while close enough to trigger it.

While playing through Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3’s story mode, you will sometimes need to perform a Synergy Attack to get past an obstacle. The same rules and instructions on this page apply to to activate a Synergy Attack to get past those!

Sometimes, if a teammate uses an Ability that synergizes with an Ability your character has, you’ll see an “A” marker appear on your character icon on the bottom left. Quickly press A to activate the Synergy Attack when you see this.
