Borderlands 3 will also feature many accessibility options.
Gearbox Software has revealed new accessibility features for Borderlands 3, including an Apex Legends-style pinging system that will allow players to point out enemies, friends, chests, items, and more.
Gearbox detailed these new additions in press release and further explained that the pinging system will ensure communication is in place for co-op teammates, even when voice chat is not available. When players ping anything in the world, a contextually relevant VO line will be played and the marked point will appear in the game world, as well as on the mini-map, for each player.
In addition to the pinging system, Borderlands 3 will also feature a “full suite of accessibility options,” ensuring that all players will be able to enjoy this latest game. Players on any platform will fully be able to remap controls, which will also allow the Xbox Adaptive Controller to be used to its full potential.
Borderlands 3 Accessibility, ECHOcast
Players will also be able to toggle headbob and auto-mantling, adjust aim assist, and Borderlands 3 will feature extensive closed captioning and color blindness options, which will include adjustable text size and opacity.
Borderlands 3 will also see the series first Free-for-All Dueling mode, which will allow players to opt in to a 1v1v1v1 competitive multiplayer experience. Discord will also be hugely integrated, as players will be able to utilize activity group-based matchmaking and asynchronous matchmaking.
Gearbox is also building upon its ECHOcast Twitch extension that allows viewers to look through a streamer’s loadout/skilltrees and earn in-game loot. These new features will include the ability to allow viewers to spawn events into a streamer’s Borderlands 3 game, including Moxxi Mixer events, Badass Viewer events, and more.
