There are two exclusive powerups that can be unlocked by playing through the Story Mode. Check out this page to see what they are, what they do, and how to unlock them!
This powerup is unlocked after completing Peach’s Castle in the Story Mode. After the credits roll, you’ll be awarded with this powerup to use in Course Maker. The Super Hammer is exclusive to the Super Mario 3D World “Extra Game Style.” The Super Hammer tranforms Mario into Builder Mario! Builder Mario can make his own Builder Boxes. These boxes are similar to Crates. You can spawn five boxes. More than five will cause the first box to disappear. In Multiplayer each character’s Builder Box is a different color and features their own emblem. Each player can spawn their own five boxes!
Builder Mario can swing his hammer! This allows you to break a variety of blocks as well as defeat enemies. Check out the list below to see the blocks and some of notable enemies that crumble with a single hit from the hammer!
This powerup is unlocked in Story Mode. After completing the job Spiny Shell Smashers, Purple Toad will destroy the hard blocks below the row of three floating ? Blocks. Once the hard blocks are destroyed, jump to hit the middle ? Block to unlock the Superball Flower.
The Superball Flower can be accessed in the Course Maker and is exclusive to the Super Mario Bros. Game Style. Select the Fire Flower and toggle the menu to swtich it to the Superball Flower. This powerup transforms Mario into Superball Mario! Like with the Fire Flower, Superball Mario can destroy enemies by pressing Y to shoot. Mario can only shoot one superball at a time. It travels much faster than a fireball and also quickly bounces off surfaces. The Superball Flower even changes the levels music once Mario transforms!
