It’s digital-only for now, but a physical release will follow.
Terraria is finally making its way to Nintendo Switch with a release date unexpectedly set for June 27 – that’s tomorrow!
A Terraria forum post announcing the date said that the initial release will be digital only, but that a physical retail version would eventually follow. Developer Re-Logic explained that “since the game is ready, we figured we would just get it into your hands as soon as possible.”

No price has been listed yet, but Terraria is $10 on PC and $20 on PS4 and Xbox One, so it’s probably safe to expect it to be $20 on Switch as well. The console versions of Terraria have slightly different content from the PC version, though they are generally pretty similar.
We gave Terraria a 9 in our intial 2011 review, and the 2D crafting-adventure game has only grown bigger and better since then thanks to a constant flow of free updates. However, it was announced at E3 2019 that the upcoming Journey’s End update later this year might be its last.
