An extra new Pokemon, Dynamax secrets and more.

The new trailer for Pokemon Sword and Shield shown during the Pokemon Direct has some details that you just might have missed.

First, check out the trailer if you already haven’t:

Now check out all the cool stuff we found and others on the internet have pointed out.

You can view this piece as a slideshow by flipping through the gallery below or just keep scrolling to read it as an article.

A New Chipmunk Pokemon

An extra secret Pokemon?! While we got our first official look at seven new Pokemon, it looks like an extra one was snuck in. A little boy in the crowd is sporting a shirt with a creature resembling a chipmunk…

…and the creature itself can seemingly be spotted in another crowd shot.

There’s reason to believe this is a brand new Pokemon. You might recall how Toucannon was teased in a similar way when it was first spotted on a shirt during a Sun and Moon trainer customization preview trailer.

It’s worth pointing out that an old Sword and Shield leak accurately predicted many things that appeared in the Direct, and it also mentions there will be two new chipmunk Pokemon called Skwovet and Greedunt. Apparently they will sometimes attack you if you shake trees for berries.

New Rotom Forms

It appears that our new Pokedex in Sword and Shield will be what looks like a smartphone.

And it seems the Ghost Pokemon Rotom is back to inhabit our electronic devices and probably provide more game tips.

Rotom also appears to have a camera form, spotted during the Grass Gym battle.

And believe it or not, it looks like Rotom can possess your bike and give it an electrical charge to give you a speed boost…

… and transform your bike so it can ride over water?!

Scorbunny’s Typing

Many took one look at Scorbunny and thought it had the appearance of a Pokemon that will probably evolve into a Fire/Fighting type — even though we’ve already had that combo with three starters already with Blaziken, Emboar and Infernape. But our worst fears may have been confirmed by Scorbunny’s early game moveset, which includes the Fighting move Double Kick.

Now, this isn’t a confirmation that Scorbunny will be Fire/Fighting, but it’s definitely a sign that it could go that way.

The leak outright says Scorbunny will be a “fighter,” which adds more fuel to the fire.

While there’s nothing wrong with the Fire/Fighting typing in terms of gameplay, those who always choose Fire just want something new!

Leave Milo Alone

This isn’t an exciting Easter egg or anything, we just wanted to make a public service announcement that despite it looking like Gym Leader Milo has no nose…

…a brief side profile does confirm he has a sniffer.

Dynamaxing Was Foreshadowed

It turns out that the new embiggening mechanic known as Dynamaxing was actually hinted at in the first Sword and Shield trailer. A green hillside featured a massive figure with a swirling cloud and electricity…

…which are the same elements seen when you make your Pokemon grow.

Big Digs

A dessert setting features massive Diglett carvings in the cliffside.

It looks like the mythology of these giant Dynamax Pokemon will be an important element of the Galar region’s history that we’ll learn more about as we play the game.

WARNING: Do Not Dynamax Your Wailord

Speaking of Dynamaxing, this isn’t so much something we found in trailer but a word of caution: do not Dynamax your Wailord. The blue whale Pokemon is the biggest of them all at a staggering 47 feet long and weighing almost 900 pounds, so making a giant version of an already giant Pokemon would not end well, as people on social media have illustrated.

More Sword and Shield on 8/31?

The back of Milo’s jersey bears the number 831, which is likely hinting we’ll get another batch of Sword and Shield news on 8/31, August, 31st.

831

Previously, the back of the trainer’s jersey had 227 and the first trailer hit on 2/27, February 27th, then it changed to 65 and the Pokemon Direct aired the second trailer on 6/5, June 5th, so if the pattern continues we already know when the next wave of Sword and Shield goodness will hit!

That’s everything! Let us know what you spotted in the comments.
