Operation Dark Hours is the first raid to be introduced to the Division 2. This page will give you tips on how to complete this challenging activity.

You can watch one of the first successful attempts at this raid by MarcoStyle on Twitch, here.

Before you Raid[edit]

The development team has stated very clearly that this is the most challenging content they have ever made for the franchise. You can’t expect to just walk in and win this like you might a Mission or Stronghold.

This Raid requires teamwork and communication as well as a lot of firepower. For this reason, you’re going to want to go into this with a coordinated group. The maximum amount of people you can have enter the Raid together is 8 and we recommend you have all of these spots filled. This is because this mission will not scale any lower if you have fewer players.

Try to make sure you have a diverse group with different abilities. Having a few healer specialisations is going to be very helpful.

Other requirements to participate in this raid is to be level 30, have reached World Tier 5 and Gear Score of at least 490.

Once you’re feeling confident, interact with the helicopter pilot at your base of operations to start the raid.

Operation Dark Hours[edit]

You will automatically be transported to an entrance through a sewer. Head straight down with your team and climb up at the end to get to the main airport section.

You’ll face your first group of enemies in this section so be ready for a fight. There will be multiple tough enemies but nothing too difficult. If you have trouble with this section you will definitely be in for a tough ride for the rest.

Once this battle is over a door in the side of the Washington Airport building will open. A few enemies might pop out so take them out and head through the door and down the corridor to the door at the end. If you can’t go through this door go back out to the main area – it’s likely there’s still an enemy or two left to take care of.

Assault the Airport[edit]

This will lead you into a cafeteria area. Spotted around the area are machines with a teal outline. These make nearby enemies immune and they are also immune to your weapons.

On the outside of the room there are mounted guns on either side. Use those to shoot the machines to disable them.

Defeat Max “Boomer” Bailey

This boss will appear once you start attacking the machines as well as other enemies. Make sure to keep an eye on whoever has the boss’s aggro – you can tell because that person will have a red eye with Boomer next to it under their name to the right of your screen.

There are blue ammo boxes towards the outward corners of the room to use.

That player will need to lead Boomer into the line of site of the mounted guns. Another player should be on the guns ready. Shoot his weak point so he kneels and then have the entire raid party try to get headshots on him while he’s down.

Keep in mind to make sure the machines are still down otherwise you’ll do no damage. Try not to overheat the mounted guns and keep them fresh to destroy machines or the boss. You’ll need to repeat this until he’s down.

Be aware that Boomer can also destroy the mounted guns so be careful not to draw his aggro to the guns. If he destroys both guns you will fail the objective. It might be a good idea to only use the guns to cause the boss to drop down rather than do additional damage.

It’s important as a group to call when you have aggro, when you’re on a mounted gun, when you’re downed and need to be helped, and when you see any immune boxes coming back up to help your team.

There will also be enemies who can EMP the mounted guns so make sure to take them out when you see them.

After Boomer and all the other enemies are defeated, head out through the garage door that should open.

Identify Cargo Delivery[edit]

From here go to the far end of the room and to the right to go through white double doors. Then keep going down and to the right again to go over an outdoor scaffolding. Once back inside, follow the corridors til you get to a room with white red and grey walls. Here is a laptop you’ll need to interact with before continuing.

Split your team into two halves. Each half should drop down through the elevator shafts on either side of the room and back out to be on the same floor as the plane.

You’ll need to interact with three monitors on each side the bottom of the plane. Talk to each other to coordinate this sequence. It looks like you both want to push the same monitor at the same time – the one that says WAITING and is green on one side.

Once it’s complete they will change and enemies will drop down through the roof.

Defeat Ben “Dizzy” Carter and Carl “Ricochet” Dawson

Each side will have its own boss to deal with. These are both heavily armoured enemies armed with miniguns but they should be damageable, unlike Boomer.

Depending on how you did with the monitors, the room will flood with gas. It seems as though the gas won’t harm you if keep doing the monitors correctly but it is hard to tell. If you find that the gas is stopping your damage or hurting you, wait it out until you get the other gas.

It looks as though purple gas is bad and orange gas is good.

One strategy is to have one team member on each side keep an eye on the monitors so you can coordinate this sequence again to avoid the purple gas from dropping mid boss fight. Though this is not confirmed.

Once one boss is down, the plane should lift up to allow everyone to coordinate against the second boss and a third boss Oliver “Weasel” Gordan will appear. Because of this, it’s a good idea to try to take out the first two bosses at the same time. This way you only have to fight Weasel alone.

You will also have other enemies, including a sniper who can shoot you from a distance. Have one person on your team also use a sniper or another long-range weapon to try to counter this.

Reach the DDP-52 Razorback[edit]

After everyone has been defeated, go to the far side of the room and pull open the elevator doors. Climb up and go out into another room where you walk over the wing of a plane to get to the other side.

Then you’ll come to outisde where you need to drop down onto the lowest ground. As you move forward into the undercover area you’ll have to deal with a small group of normal enemies.

Keep heading into the undercover rooms and through the quarantine area. A few drones might appear so take them out as you go.

When you come to the large open area with escalators at the back you might have a few enemies appear once more. Then enemies will appear all around you but they should still be fairly normal. Take them out together with your team.

Now go up the scalator and through the garage style door which should now be open. Follow your waypoint to the end of this room and interact with the button beside that door and you’ll trigger the next boss battle.

Defeat Lucy and Buddy

Out of one of the doors on the side, two mechanical dogs will appear called Buddy and Lucy. Lucy seems to have an instant kill beam so be very careful to be in cover while that happens. You can still blindfire while she’s doing this.

Buddy has the ability to heal and whenever he does you’ll need to focus him so he doesn’t get his health bar too out of range of Lucy’s. Their health is linked so you need to shoot them down at the same rate to do consistent damage.

Having one half of your team focus one of the dogs and the other on the other and try to keep them apart and split your damage is a good plan but you’ll still need to keep them even. They also move around a lot, so having at least one team member dedicated to calling who’s health bar is higher is a good plan.

There’s also a laptop in the middle of the room which you can interact with periodically which appears to make them weaker.

Once you’ve killed them both, head out through the newly opened doors and follow the rooms and corridors through until you come to a room with large windows next to it. You can restock by the windows and when you’re ready to drop down and begin this large fight with your team.

Destroy the DDP-52 Razorback[edit]

In this arena style fight, towards the centre of the area, you’ll find generator type machines. They’ll be labelled with numbers and you need to have someone in each spot. There’s a circle that extends outward from them letting you know if you’re in range. As they charge up – try to charge them all up at the same rate.

As soon as you reach a higher percentage look to the Razorback in the middle and shoot the panel which opens up. It should have a yellow health bar. Whoever can’t shoot the panel should focus on taking out the drones that come out from the top.

After you’ve done some damage the Razorback will open out and form a tower-like structure. It also has weak points on its tower that you have to shoot – the first two and then others will open up. As soon as you see it shooting missiles get away from the centre and split up. Keep moving to avoid the rockets.

You’ll also have boss enemies which will run for the anti-aircraft missiles attached to the generators. These missile launchers will light up if a boss is interacting with them. If the boss manages to shoot this your whole team will die. Make sure to always be keeping an eye out for this and call the number for your team to collapse onto these bosses to avoid team wipes.

As you get the Razorback down to lower health you’ll have to start dealing with strong mechanical dog enemies that appear while you fight on top of everyone else.

You’ll probably have to do this part several times and focus different sides of the generator but the good news is you can set the pace by charging up the generators. Make sure to have your cooldowns ready and restock before you interact with the generators to have the best shot at success.

Once the Razorback is at no health have your team split up and go to each of the missile launchers. You need to shoot the laptops in order 1 – 3 so you don’t all die.

This will complete the Raid. Good luck.
