Mortal Kombat 11’s Krypt is full of devious puzzles and locked doors that require certain Key Items to overcome – but finding them may not be as simple as you think.
Some Key Items are located in the Krypt as you explore around and set off certain events, while others may be located inside chests, crafted at the Forge, or even found outside the Krypt mode entirely.
Below you will find a list of all known Krypt Key Items and where to find them – as well as where to use them.
- Use: Can destroy weak walls to create paths to new areas, can also be used to break objects for Koins.
- Location: This is the first Key Item you’ll find in the Krypt, and it’s located at the end of the Palace Entrance on a platform. Since you need the War Hammer to proceed, there’s no way you can miss it.
Gem of the Living[edit]
- Use: Opens the Balance Door on the east side of the Courtyard leading north to the Gardens and Vault.
- Location: You’ll find this item appears as you enter the Warrior Shrine in the west part of the Courtyard past the Forge and Mountain Pass. A large lava rock will hurtle down from the sky and destroy the statue of Raiden – and you can break the rock with your War Hammer to obtain the gem.
Cracked Horn of Motaro[edit]
- Use: Opens Goro’s Lair Door at the north end of the Warrior Shrine in the Courtyard, and is needed to proceed down to Goro’s Lair
- Location: Once you have obtained the aforementioned Gem of the Living, you must head through the Gardens and hug the left wall until you can find a weak wall to break and enter the Vault. Inside this area, pull the nearest lever to enter a closed room where the horn rests on a pedestal.
Amulet of Earthrealm’s Protector[edit]
- Use: Inserted at the base of the statue of Raiden to restore the statue and award you Raiden‘s Shattered Staff, another Key Item.
- Location: Unlike other Key Items, this amulet can only be found in the Towers of Time. Specifically, you must complete all the Tutorial Towers to unlock the rest of the Towers of Time – and one of your objective rewards for doing this is the Amulet.
Fragments of the One Being (Heart, Mind, and Soul)[edit]
- Use: Unlocks the Door of the One Being at the entrance to Goro’s Lair, leading to a room with fire traps and several chests, including one that holds the Heart of Blaze, another Key Item.
- Location: Like the Amulet of Earthrealm’s Protector, these fragments cannot be gained in the Krypt. Instead you will have to undergo “Finisher Challenges” in either the Towers of Time or Klassic Towers. Perform 10 Fatalities, 10 Brutalities, and 10 Mercies to get each of the Fragments that will be added to your inventory the next time you enter the Krypt.
- Use: Destroys or Activates targets from afar, can be used to pull hanging bodies to gain Hearts, destroy flaming skulls to douse Flaming Chests to unlock, or destroy targets that cannot be reached otherwise
- Location: Once inside Goro’s Lair, take the path south to his Throne and look for a passage going back to the side of the throne and into the Armory. At the back of the Armory room are wooden pillars and a flaming kunai with a chain is embedded at the end that you can pick up.
Kenshi Takahashi’s Blindfold[edit]
- Use: Able to peer into the Spirit Realm and reveal Hidden Treasures and Weak Walls that cannot be viewed and interacted with otherwise – but may also reveal vengeful spirits that can attack you.
- Location: From Goro’s Throne Room, take the path off to the West and through Goro’s Treasure Room to find the Jails. On the other side of the bloody pools is a large open cell room where the bodies of many Oni are piled around the dead fighter Kenshi, and you can interact to take his blindfold.
Ermac’s Amulet[edit]
- Use: Can be used to unlock green Soul Vaults using Soul Fragments, and lift rubble or restore bridges (some may cost Soul Fragments, some do not).
- Location: From Goro’s Throne Room, take the path leading down to the East and to the Dining Hall, and head up the back stairs before taking the upper floor path to the far southwest corner, and raising the gate with a chain to find an elevator to the Blood Pit. When you arrive at the Lower Pit, Ermac will plummet from above and land on a spike, allowing you to take the amulet he carries.
Heart of Blaze[edit]
- Use: Can be used to ignite The Sacrifice area behind the Warrior’s Shrine after lowering the cage, and used in conjunction with Scorpion‘s Spear to light the bodies on fire, unlocking nearby chests.
- Location: This Key Item is only found in a Treasure Chest past the Door of the One Being near the entrance to Goro’s Lair. Using all three fragments to open the door, dash past the flame traps to the end of the cave where you’ll find an 80,000 Koin Chest that holds the Heart.
Thunder God’s Shattered Staff[edit]
- Use Unlocks the Thunder God’s Door past the Torture Halls leading to a fiery room full of swinging traps, lava, and chests – one of which contains the Dragon’s Amulet Key Item.
- Location: In order to receive Raiden‘s Shattered Staff, you must restore the statue of Raiden in the Warrior Shrine, which can be done by inserting the Amulet of Earthrealm’s Protector into the base – gained by completing all the Tutorial Towers of Time.
Dragon Amulet Keystone[edit]
- Use: Unlocks the Dragon’s Door found embedded in the Mountain Pass between the Forge and Warrior Shrine, which leads down to a Kytinn Hive below.
- Location: This item is only found in a specific Treasure Chest located past The Torture Halls on the second floor of Goro’s Dining Hall – which requires a Skeleton Key to enter. Once in the Torture Halls, take the first left past the trap hallways to find the Thunder God’s Door, and use Raiden’s Shattered Staff to open the door to the cave filled with lava and swinging traps. Take the first left on the platform to dodge some traps and look for the one treasure chest that costs 20,000 Koins to open, and you’ll find the amulet inside.
- Use: One of three Key Items needed to unlock the Elder God Puzzle in the Kytinn Hive past the Dragon’s Door in the Mountain Pass.
- Location: You can find this item at the Shrine on the other side of the Mountain Pass, past the Forge. The first item you get from giving money to the shrine is always Kronika‘s Amulet, so do not spend more than 1,000 Koins!
Shinnok’s Amulet[edit]
- Use: One of the three Key Items needed to unlock the Elder God Puzzle in the Kytinn Hive past the Dragon’s Door in the Mountain Pass
- Location: Unlike other Key Items, Shinnok’s Amulet must be crafted from three specific ingredients. While you can find the recipe in a chest – you actually don’t need it as long as you know the ingredients. First is the Ensorcelled Demon’s Heart. Second is the Ensorcelled Gem of Trapped Souls, which can only be found from unlocking the Soul Vault in the Dead Woods that costs 10,000 Soul Fragments. Finally, the Ensorcelled Eye of a Dragon – which can be found by killing spiders in the Kytinn Hive in Goro’s Lair, past the Dining Hall and through the Torture Halls locked by a Skeleton Key. Note that this item will cost 60,000 Koins and 1,500 Soul Fragments!
- Use: One of three Key Items needed to unlock the Elder God Puzzle in the Kytinn Hive past the Dragon’s Door in the Mountain Pass.
- Location: As its name suggests, this Key Item has much to do with Cetrion. Specifically, it seems the only way to obtain this item is to place her head on the row of spikes in the Warrior’s Shrine – unlocking the associated chest with the Key Item. This can be done by performing 50 Fatalities against Cetrion in any of the Towers of Time or Klassic Towers. We recommend backing in and out of the Survivor Tower until Kronika appears first, so that you can score a Fatality in the first round, and then go back to the tower selection to face her as many times as needed.
