We’re in the endgame, now.
Epic Games has announced Fortnite: Endgame, the Avengers crossover event that launches today.
After days of teasing, a new trailer shows Thanos and his army of Chitauri walking across the Fortnite map, before a team of Fortnite characters turn up and take out one of the Titan’s troops with Captain America’s shield. The squad can be seen wielding Hawkeye’s bow, Thor’s Stormbreaker axe, and Iron Man’s repulsor gauntlets.
The update’s patch notes describes the event as a fight against Thanos and his army, who are tracking down the six Infinity Stones. Players are divided into two teams – Team Thanos and Team Heroes – and the mode supports respawning until specific conditions are met.
Teams playing on the side of the Titan all start as Chitauri warriors, and the first player to claim an Infinity Stone is transformed into Thanos. When all six Infinity Stones are found, the Heroes team will be unable to respawn, allowing Team Thanos to track down and eliminate the remaining Heroes.
Each Infinity Stone acts as a significant buff, enhancing Thanos’ power and providing additional health for Chitauri players. The Stones provide:
- Reality Stone (Red) = Heath & Shields doubled (1000->2000)
- Soul Stone (Orange) = Siphon activated (grants Thanos shields only)
- Mind Stone (Yellow) = Jump height doubled
- Space Stone (Blue) = Ground Pound AOE size tripled, damage x6
- Time Stone (Green) = Big knockback added to each hit, damage x3
- Power Stone (Purple) = Laser damage x6
The Hero team must destroy Thanos and his army using Mythic-grade Avengers items, such as Stormbreaker or Captain America’s shield. The team will be provided with a treasure map that shows where one item is, but further Avenger equipment can be found in Chests across the map.
The mode, which will only be available for a limited time, will go live today.
