Launched as a feature in Season 2, Ranked Leagues are set to bring an all-new sense of competition to Apex Legends.

Ranked Leagues will run in competitive seasons dubbed “Series” and will be used to determine just how well you stack up against others in the Apex Legends community. The first Series round will run throughout Season 2 and will end in September.

For more on Ranked Leagues, check out the following break down that covers every aspect of Ranked Leagues in Apex Legends.

Understanding Ranked Leagues in Apex Legends[edit]

At launch, Ranked Leagues will feature the following six competitive tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Apex Predator.

Each of these tiers – with the exception of Apex Predator – will feature four divisions: Gold IV, Gold III, Gold II, and Gold I. Note that Gold IV will be the lowest division, while Gold I will be the highest.

During the initial launch, all players will begin in Bronze IV; however, in future Series’ players will be given a starting placement if they have managed to climb the ladder in the previous Series.

How Scoring Works in Ranked Leagues[edit]

To take part in Ranked League, players climbing the ladder will use a set scoring system that tracks scores via Ranked Points (RP).

Listed below is the RP cost to play a match of Ranked League:

  • Platinum Matches cost 3RP.
  • Diamond Matches cost 4RP.
  • Apex Predator matches cost 5RP.

Here is the complete breakdown of everything that will earn you RP in Ranked Leagues:

  • Killing another player will grant you up to 1RP per kill. A maximum of 5RP for killing another player can be earnt per match.
  • Placing in the Top 10 will earn you 2RP.
  • Placing in the Top 5 will earn you 4RP.
  • Placing in the Top 3 will earn you 7RP.
  • Winning a match will earn you 12RP.

Please note that if you do win a match, you will only receive 12RP as the reward for placing Top 3 and Top 5 will not be stacked.

Players can only win a maximum of 17RP per match.

Moving Up the Ranked League Ladder[edit]

During Series One, players will not receive any significant demotions while climbing the Competitive Tier ladder.

For example, should a player reach the Platinum I tier and happen to encounter a series of loses, they cannot be demoted below the Platinum IV tier. While players can not lose their Tier, running several losses will cause players to lose their division – such as going from division I to Division II.

How Ranked Leagues Will Scale With Friends[edit]

If you’re looking to play with friends, it’s important to understand that several rules have been put in place to prevent potential cheating or the ability for higher ranks to carry their lower-ranked friends.

For this reason, not only do players need to be level 10 or higher, but the matches will be scaled towards the highest rank in your group. This means that if you are playing a match with a Platinum I friend as a Bronze IV player you will, unfortunately, be matched with other players in the Platinum I division.

Do note though; players will only have to pay for the appropriate match cost for their rank level.

Ranked League Rewards in Apex Legends[edit]

Everyone loves a good reward and for this reason, players that take part in Ranked Leagues during Season 2 will be awarded Series 1 rank badges. Players will be awarded the badge in which they end the Series with.

Respawn Entertainment believe strongly in allowing players to showcase their in-game achievements and for this reason, will have more information on additional Ranked League rewards sometime during Season 2.
