Improving the Grind

Respawn is gearing up for June with some initial details on the Apex Legends’ Season 2 Battle Pass and a new, two-week long, in-game event called The Legendary Hunt that starts next Tuesday.

The Season 2 Battle Pass for Apex Legends isn’t just about adding content, it’s about bettering the player experience. In an EA blog post, Lead Product Manager Lee Horn focused on improvements fans can expect from Season 2 versus what they experienced in Apex Legends Season 1. So far, these adjustments make progression easier and add more rewards.

Below are some of the changes Horn wanted to draw attention to:

  • Level up via Daily and Weekly Challenges.

  • Time to Battle Pass level 100 should be significantly reduced.

  • Three additional Legendary skins added to the rewards track.

  • Three entirely new content categories replace badge and stat tracker rewards.

  • You’ll earn enough Crafting Metal rewards from the full reward track to craft a Legendary item, or whatever your heart desires.

The team’s goals seem centered on “improving grind” and introducing meaningful challenges that vary the game in interesting, rather than “wacky” ways. There will be a Legendary item every 25 Battle Pass levels and Voice Lines are getting replaced with Crafting Metal rewards. This way, players can craft a Legendary item of their choosing.

We can expect to get the full scoop on Apex Legends Season 2 at E3 2019.

For now, fans can try their hand at a new event, starting next Tuesday, called The Legendary Hunt. The event focusses on finishing in the Top 5 in any match. Doing so will get you into a queue full of other Top 5 winners. To stay in the queue, you’ll have to keep placing Top 5.

But The Legendary Hunt isn’t just about being an elite. Limited-time challenges can earn you Rare, Epic, and Legendary Skins and a double XP weekend can net you some quick progression. Additionally, every 3-4 days a new Legendary Hunt skin will be available for purchase.

Those who have the Battle Pass can get 2 additional Legendary Skins: the Legendary Honored Prey R-301 skin (automatic) and the Wraith Night Terror Legendary Skin (Level 15+ by the end of the event). Plus, Battle Pass owners can earn an entire Battle Pass Level if they finish Top 5 (limited to once per day).
