Dragon‘s Dogma character classes, known as Vocations, are the game’s way of identifying your gameplay style as well as what weapons you will be able to use while playing as your preferred vocation.

Vocations are not a permanent choice – your character and your main pawn will be able to switch vocations as long as he/she has either unlocked the vocation or has enough Discipline Points to unlock one. Vocations also each have their own separate level/rank so you won’t have to worry about losing progress in one vocation should you choose to switch out.

Augments (or upgrades) from other vocations can still be equipped even after switching out. It will be a good practice maxing out a vocation’s rank then switch out to another, giving you access to more powerful augments and allows your character / main pawn to enjoy the best of several vocations.

Vocation sets[edit]

There are nine separate vocations, each having their own strengths, weaknesses, and skillsets. Your character can freely choose any vocation while your main pawn can only select the Basic and Advanced vocations.

Basic Vocations[edit]

These are the vocations you can pick at the beginning of the game:

Advanced Vocations[edit]

These vocations are the enhanced versions of the previous vocations:

Hybrid Vocations[edit]

These are vocations that combine aspects of two Basic vocations:
