SHIFT is Gearbox Software‘s fan reward program. Players can sign up for Gearbox Software’s SHiFT Premiere Club directly from within Borderlands 2 (PC/Mac, PS3, or Xbox 360). Membership is free. Once signed up, you can enter SHiFT codes, which will unlock rewards such as skin customizations or other goodies — including the coveted Golden Keys. Codes have to be redeemed from inside the game, via the Extras menu.
Golden Keys are special rewards for users who have signed up for SHiFT. Each Golden Key opens the special Golden Key Loot Chest near the Fast-Travel Station in the middle of Sanctuary once.
LootTheWorld is a free app download where users can use their mobile devices and link them to their Borderlands 2 SHiFT account. By using the app to scan UPCs or QR Codes, users can obtain loot and send it to their Borderlands 2 in-game account via Stamps. QR codes are sent from Gearbox or created by unlimited generators like LootBox2.
Users can only store 20 items on their mobile devices before having to delete or send them to their accounts.
CAUTION: You can not get back Golden Keys once they’re used, even if you back out of the game without saving. Either accept the loot or lose it AND the key forever.
Unlocking Additional Golden Keys and Rewards[edit]
Players can unlock additional Golden Keys via codes given away by Gearbox or its employees. Codes can be entered only once per SHiFT account and are independent of your character saves you’ve got; meaning, one key works across all your saves. Codes given away online are not single-use, all users can use the same code, but there are time limits on when the code can be entered. After the time period is over, the code becomes unusable.
To enter SHiFT codes, access the Extras menu from the Main Menu and enter the code.

NOTE: PC codes may be case sensitive. Some codes are released with expiration dates listed, but actually remain valid until a certain number of keys have been redeemed. The date listed after codes show the last day tested.
- If you successfully enter a code, please hit EDIT and update the date in parentheses following each code.
- If a code has expired, please hit EDIT and replace the date in parentheses that follows that particular code with “(expired)”.
- If no code for a given event is shown for your platform, that code has expired and been moved to the Expired SHiFT Codes page.
